Description:

Set of 6 Antique Chinese porcelain Tongzhi marked dishes. Made for export, probably second half of 19th century. Thick turquoise blue, yellow, and green enamels over dark blue ground, with turquoise interior and gilded rim. Painted bats among lotus flowers and trailing vines. Includes five sweetmeat dishes, three of "bat-wing" shape, and square dish. Marked in overglaze red. Strong orange peel effect throughout. Repaired cracks and restorations to square dish, some wear to enamels and gilding throughout set as expected. Square dish measures 2.25" H x 5.5" L x 5.5" W approx, "bat-wing" dishes 2.25" H x 8" across approx., sweetmeat dishes 2.25" H x 7.5" across approx.
