Two part egg and egg cup hand blown glass sculpture. Egg comprised of Marquis' designed murrines with red ground and black and white spots. Cup in opaque white glass in the "mezzo stampo" technique (ivory flocking to the interior). Cup signed and dated 5-1-2005. Marquis (b. 1945), one of the first Americans ever to work in a Venetian glass factory, is a master of Venetian cane and murrine techniques. He is represented in many museum and private collections. Marquis currently has an retrospective exhibition of his work from the 1960's to the present at the Museum of Glass, Tacoma, titled "Richard Marquis: Keepers". Excellent condition. Egg 6 3/4" x 4" dia. approx. Cup 3 5/8" H x 4" foot dia.
