"Conspirator's Cathedra", 1994. Mixed media sculpture comprising glass sphere and painted oak chair. The sculpture is a political statement on the US relationship with the Chilean dictator Salvador Allende made for the 1994 Center on Contemporary Art (COCA) Exhibition in Seattle. The arms of the chair are stamped with a quote by Pablo Neruda: "Let us forget with gratitude those who cannot love us". The spiral glass sphere is blown having "no beginning or end". Courtney (1947-2017) founded the glass workshop at Pratt Fine Arts Center, Seattle, and was a long time instructor at Pilchuck. Excellent condition. Chair 59.5" H x 16.5" W x 17" D approx. Glass sphere 14.5" L x 9" dia. approx.
