Set of 4 woodburytype photographs from the British Arctic Expedition of 1875-6, printed 1878 and included in George Strong Nares, "Narrative of a voyage to the Polar Sea..." Mounted on sheets imprinted "Permanent Woodbury Print". Includes: "Discovery Bay, Winter", "Discovery Bay, Summer", "Floeburg Beach, Spring", and "Floeburg and Pressed-Up Rubble Ice". The Arctic Expedition's photographs were taken by Thomas Mitchell, paymaster of HMS Discovery and George White, engineer on HMS Alert. Images in good clear sharp condition with light signs of age. Sheets with age toning, ripples, etc. Woodburytype prints 4.5" x 7". Sheets 5.5" x 8.5".
