William and Mary 1690 Sterling Silver Trefid Serving Spoon. The maker's mark is attributed to William Scarlett. The hammered date of 1690 on the back of the spoon is corroborated by the hallmark series. The lower case ipaired with the lion passant translate as the London Assayer's Office 1690. The crowned panther was used by the London Assayers office designation for Sterling Silver. The final hallmark, S over W on shield, is attributed to William Scarlett. The spoon is 20 centimeters (8 inches) in length with beaded rat tail attachment. In overall condition the spoon presents clean, with light surface wear and no scarring. 53 grams approx
