Description:

Early 19th century Wedgwood black basalt Portland Vase. Impressed "WEDGWOOD" mark at base and impressed "T. L" at sprigging above; the underside with portrait of a man in a Phrygian cap. Losses to small branch of tree and to one foot of the cherub; some wear / scuff marks to surface of figures, etc. Raised section behind standing male figure under pavilion - the column and pavilion base appear to be applied in black instead of white. The raised outline can be seen; white spots don't appear to be chips (possibly "smoothed" with loss to black surface?). 10.5" H x 7" D.
