Description:

Early 19th century Wedgwood black basalt candlestick, modeled as a griffin with wings sweeping to converge with sconce. Resin engine-turned fitting added at top. Impressed "WEDGWOOD" mark to base. Wax coating appears to have been applied. Chip at sconce extending slightly into wing tip. Some missing granules to garland, and loss to scrolling motif underneath body and at base. 13.5" H x 6.5" x 3.5". The Myra O. Karp Collection.
