Description:

Vintage or antique Chinese embroidered silk coin purse. Likely early 20th century, possibly earlier. With finely embroidered rooster among rock and lingzhi fungus at bottom, with bird in flight overhead on lower section. Above, a peacock observes a peony while standing on a rock. White, woven triangular patterns border purse faces. Plants, flowers and rocks executed in "Forbidden Stitch" technique. Framed in gilt-wood shadow box frame by Museum Quality Framing with museum glass. Purse in excellent condition from what may be observed. Frame with one small nick on left side, otherwise in excellent condition. Purse measures 5.75" long, 3.25" across approx., frame 16" long, 13.25" across and 1.5" deep approx.
