Description:

Late 18th & early 19th century Wedgwood black basalt portrait medallion plaques. (1): Late 18th century portrait of Lord Mansfield (William Murray) facing right in white over black basalt dip. Impressed latin to underside of bust reading "UNI AEQUUS VIRTUTI" ("Faithful unto virtue alone"). Impressed "WEDGWOOD" mark and accession number to reverse. Some crazing and a couple nicks to portrait and chip to reverse. 5x4". (2): 19th century portrait of Sir Christopher Wren facing left in white over solid black. Impressed marks and accession number to reverse. In very good condition. 4.25x3.25".
