Description:

Woodblock print triptych by Tsukioka Kogyo (1869 - 1927 Japan) titled "Mino no Kokori" from the series "Selections of Japanese History". Triptych scene depicting Empress Gensho visiting the sacred waterfall at Yoro, greeted by the woodcutter and his father whose acts of filial piety caused the water of the falls to be transformed into sake. Artist's signature at lower right; inscription at lower left margin dates this triptych to 1895. Some light toning; foxing; light use wear to paper and spots of adhesive residue to reverse; in good overall condition. 14.5" H x 29" L.
