Description:

Antique Sharpe & Gould 19th Century "Black-billed Sicklebill" Hand Colored Lithograph. After a drawing by William Matthew Hart from the Monograph of the Paradiseidae (Birds of Paradise) by Richard Bowdler Sharpe. Published in London between 1891 and 1898. The Birds of Paradise was the idea of John Gould but completed after his death by Sharpe. Labeled "Drepanornis Cervinicauda (Sclater)" along lower edge; Mintern Bros imp. Image measures 19.5x13.5". Professionally framed with french painted mat and gilt inner filet. Frame measures 32x25.5". Antiquarius Gallery, San Francisco label on verso. Excellent condition with strong colors and no toning or foxing; not examined outside of frame.
