Description:

An Ornate Japanese Butsudan Altar Cabinet. Black laquered doors with zelkova wood inlay open to reveal two folding screens composed of silk with woven cloud patterns, opening once more to reveal a miniaturized temple with Amida Buddha figure; two hanging lanterns above complement the orante carved eaves. Two drawers at base with miniature hand-painted silk scrolls, presumably of ancestors and/or historical figures. Probably made just after the Meiji Period. Some minor wear to interior and exterior. Measures 27" x 17" x 13.5" approx. when closed.
