Description:

Large sterling silver charger plate; possibly refashioned from a 17th C. piece. Slightly hollow cast gadroon edge decorated with two Bacchus heads (top and bottom), two winged cherub heads (left and right), and 4 acanthus leaves (spaced between). Engraved armorial with coronet to rim. Stamped with unidentified RN maker's mark. London marks: full crowned leopard's head mark, partial lion passant mark, and partial date letter mark for possibly 1661 (D) or 1676 (T). Hand etched 86-11 and 2. 17 numbers to bottom. Good condition with expected light knife marks. Small ding dent to bottom. 2440 grams approx. 1 3/4" H x 17" dia. approx.
