Signed in the lower right corner, dated 1976,and the bird id'd on the back. light toning, Painting measures 171" X 13.5 and the matting 15.25" X 18.5" approx. Howland was an American postwar & contemporary artist. He attended the Rochester Institute of Technology and graduated in 1941 with a Fine Arts degree. He served as artist preparator at the Rochester Museum of Arts and Sciences and the New York State Museum at Albany. From the estate of Robert Goodwin, Colgate University Professor, longtime collector, and central New York antique dealer.
