Description:

Oil on canvas harbor scene of fishing boats at dock. Signed lower right using Amundsen's alias William Ward Jr. His other pseudonyms included, J. J. Enwright, W. Hughes, Wm Ward, Jr., Sven Sagg, J.C. Bennett, J. C Bonac, John Dune, and others. The reason cited for creating these aliases is that he didn't want to flood the market with too many paintings from one artist. He also created fictitious biographies for each of his identities inspired by actual people he admired. Amundsen was the subject of the 2011 book "Cappy: The Life and Art of C. Hjalmar Amundsen" by Terry Wallace. 1930's style carved and gilded wood frame. Canvas 24" x 36". Frame 29.5" x 41.5".
