Description:

Late 19th century Merklen Brothers solid oak armchair with "Moorish Fretwork" panels, different style spiral turnings, and cast brass claw feet holding oak balls. Moorish Fretwork was invented and patented in 1885 by Moses Younglove Ransom and was used extensively by Merklen Brothers. Very good sturdy condition with original surface finish. Small age joint separation at chair rail. 34.75" H x 27" W x 20" D approx. Seat height 17.5".
