Description:

Antique African leopard mask. Probably from the Bozo ethnic group, native to Mali. Carved wood with leather and hide affixed with iron nails and staples. Faceted glass eyes inset with nails. Red and dark blue dots applied with pigment to surface. Remants of fur throughout. Roughly hollowed out on reverse. Mouth appears to be unattached, held together with string. One tooth appears to be broken, some cracks and wear to hide. Includes custom wood and metal stand. Includes Pacific Galleries label. Mask measures 16" L, 7" across, 6" wide approx. Stands 21" high with stand approx.
